Legal Help Tasmania

Tasmanian Legal Aid delivers a wide range of legal assistance services in criminal, family and civil law matters. Some legal assistance is available free-of-charge to everyone, including through free brochures, information sessions or telephone legal advice.

Women’s Legal Service Tasmania provide advice, information, casework and legal education to women on particularly family law and family violence matters but can also provide advice on more general legal issues.

The Student Legal Service is operated during University semester by senior law students studying at the University of Tasmania. The service is available to every member of the community and provides free and confidential legal advice and referrals. It acts as a first point of call for people who may have a legal problem but are unsure where to go for help.

Legal Help Tasmania – Northern Region

Launceston Community Legal Centre provides free legal help advice to anyone in the Northern Tasmanian community and offers initial forty five minute legal consultations with clients.

North West Community Legal Centre offers free one-off legal advice and referrals to residents of the North-West Coast of Tasmania.

Legal Help Tasmania – Southern Region

Hobart Community Legal Service provides free legal information, advice and referrals to the general public in southern Tasmania.

Churchie Gender Summit

This week, Julie was invited to Churchie Anglican Grammar School to speak at the Year 9 Gender Summit. The Gender Summit saw boys from Year 9 welcome invited delegates from St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, Somerville House, Moreton Bay College and Lourdes Hill College. The event engages young future leaders in issues surrounding gender equality, specifically examining the challenges that lie ahead for a more gender equitable Australia.
