Northern Territory Legal Aid delivers a wide range of legal assistance services in criminal, family and civil law matters. Some legal assistance is available free-of-charge to everyone, including through free brochures, information sessions or telephone legal advice.

Top End Women’s Legal Service provides Free legal advice services for women in most areas of civil law: Family law, Domestic and family violence, Housing and tenancy, Debt, Superannuation and estates, Employment law, Sexual assault, Discrimination, Compensation for  victims of crime, Civil law and other areas, eg. complaints about government agencies and procedures.

Darwin Community Legal Service is a free, confidential legal help Northern Territory service that assists community members to protect their legal rights.

The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency deliver a range of innovative, high quality, culturally proficient legal services to Aboriginal people and the community. They have offices in Darwin, Katherine and Nhulunbuy.

North Australian Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service provides legal advice to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are victims of family violence.

Community Legal Service Katherine  provides women with a range of free community legal services including legal advice and information, education, training and resources across the Katherine region.

Legal Help Northern Territory – Central and Southern Regions

Central Australian Women’s Legal Service provides free legal advice to all Central Australian women, and places specific attention on women who are affected by domestic violence, living in remote communities or economically disadvantaged.

Central Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service offers legal assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people living in the Southern Region of the Northern Territory.

Churchie Gender Summit

This week, Julie was invited to Churchie Anglican Grammar School to speak at the Year 9 Gender Summit. The Gender Summit saw boys from Year 9 welcome invited delegates from St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, Somerville House, Moreton Bay College and Lourdes Hill College. The event engages young future leaders in issues surrounding gender equality, specifically examining the challenges that lie ahead for a more gender equitable Australia.
