TSN Work-Life Balance Tool

Suspect that your work-life balance is a bit out of whack? Put yourself to the test using this tool.

The test takes around 5-10 minutes to complete and is split into three parts: Demand & Control, Flow & Motivation and Job Fit & Personality.

Using your answers, the test analyses your present level of balance in these three key areas and gives intuitive recommendations on how you can improve or maintain your present level of balance.

Julie and Jess both did the test…and let’s just say that we have a bit of work to do! At least we have some direction now…and nobody’s perfect, right?!

As an added bonus, TSN also offer similar tools that examine your stress and wellbeing levels.

Wunderlist

Nailing your work-life balance and honing your time management skills go hand in hand.

A paper to do list is a great idea. Until your toddler decides that it is the perfect canvas for their crayon masterpiece. Streamline your to-do list by using Wunderlist: a smart phone app that pretty much covers every organisational function you can imagine.

You can set up shared to do lists, mark important dates in your calendar and track your productivity. Most importantly, you can back it all up in the cloud – no more losing your mind after putting your to do list through the wash. Again.

Online Grocery Shopping

Many mums find themselves at the supermarket every other day. The travel time on top of the minutes (or hours) spent walking the aisles and waiting the checkout lines are valuable moments that could be better spent.

The solution? Grocery shopping online. Seriously.

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to which outlet you use. Coles online, Woolworths online, GroceryShop and GroceryRun all offer gorcery delivery to your door.

Make life easier for yourself by having your food brought to you – and reduce the impulse buys factor to boot!

Quote of the Day Apps

This week has taught me that sometimes, imbalance between work and life is unavoidable. On days when you have no choice but to work through it, a pick-me-up can go a long way in boosting your spirits and keeping your attitude positive.

Cue inspirational quote apps. Every day, you receive an inspirational quote to give you a smile and make the day seem not-so-scary after all. This week, it’s been just what I needed.

Give Yourself A Break

Taking a break means prioritising self-care in whatever way nourishes your soul. It could be taking a holiday, going to the hair dresser, doing a dance class, art class, or yoga, meditation, deep breathing, laughing with a friend, or visualising a happy place. “Stress mode” cannot coexist with “relaxation mode”, so find a way to relax and take a break.
