Identifying as a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and/or Intersex community can often present singular challenges not faced by others in the community.

Here at Clarity Road, we have compiled a list of Australian support resources you can access in times of need.

Connect the Dots is a service run by Clarity Road to help women affected by a life changing event to make sense of their situation. The service can help you to understand and take action on legal issues, Child Support, Centrelink, financial problems, counselling and more.

Lifeline provides 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Call 13 11 14. Online crisis support chat is also available from 8pm every night (AEST). Visit www.lifeline.org.au/gethelp.

National LGBTI Health Alliance is the national peak health organisation in Australia for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people (LGBTI) and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse people and communities.

Queensland Aids Council: is an independent community based health promotion charity formed to deliver HIV prevention programs, client services for people with HIV, peer support through Queensland Positive People and we provided a strong voice on HIV and gay issues.

Gay &Married Men’s Association is an organisation established to provide safe and confidential opportunities for men to discuss and consider issues relating to their sexuality and the relationships in their lives.

Coming Out Australia provides an online community for discussion of identification as a member of the LGBTI community.

Switchboard Australia is a Victorian volunteer organisation which provides a telephone counselling, referral and information service for the Victorian and Tasmanian lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) communities. They also extend this service to family and friends of LGBTIQ individuals as well as health and welfare professionals with LGBTIQ clients.

Victorian Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby works for and with the whole gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) community to end discrimination and to achieve equality and social justice.

Gay & Lesbian Community Services SA/NT provides counselling and support to members of the LGBTI community in SA and NT.

Living Proud offers a peer based Telephone Counselling, Information & Referral Line, Personal Perspective talks to community groups and organisations as well as a number of LGBTI community initiatives

A Gender Agenda: works with all those who do not fit cultural assumptions about the male/female binary, whether because of their gender identity, gender presentation, history or biological characteristics.  They provide support, advocacy, training and community development.

Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby advocates on behalf of the lesbians and gay men. We provide referral and educative resources on gay and lesbian rights to the media, policy makers and the community.

Gay & Lesbian Counselling Service offers a number of services for people of NSW over 18 years of age. These include our telephone support and webchat through QLife and our adult social support groups.

Tasmanian Gay & Lesbian Rights Group is a non-profit, community-based organisation which campaigns for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender human rights in Tasmania.

Working It Out is a unique organisation in Australia providing a specialist service to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex people and their families across Tasmania. They are proud of their reputation as an inclusive, community driven organisation respected by their members and other key stakeholders.

Gay & Lesbian Welfare Association provide a peer-based telephone counselling, referral and information service to ALL people dealing with sexuality and/or gender issues and people impacted upon by those dealing with issues arising from sexuality and/or gender.

Churchie Gender Summit

This week, Julie was invited to Churchie Anglican Grammar School to speak at the Year 9 Gender Summit. The Gender Summit saw boys from Year 9 welcome invited delegates from St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, Somerville House, Moreton Bay College and Lourdes Hill College. The event engages young future leaders in issues surrounding gender equality, specifically examining the challenges that lie ahead for a more gender equitable Australia.
